District 11 – The Hunger Games party.

Wow, times flies when you are reading book 2 and 3 of The Hunger Games series, doing housework *cough*.

So anyway, back to the wrap up of Tegan’s party.  District 11 is all about agriculture, so I decided to use some fruit (oranges) on wooden spoons and two players at a time until we end up with one final winner at the end.  The girls each had to balance their own orange while knocking off the other person’s orange without touching the orange or the spoon.  (I did ask them not to hurt each other, and being a lovely group of girls they were excellent, the overall winner used a tickling tactic, I’m really not sure how this game would go with a group of boys…)

So that was it for all my games.  District 12 has the industry of Coal Mining and I already incorporated that into the sling shot game.

I’ll be back with the cakes….

The Hunger Games Party…

My eldest daughter turns 13 tomorrow! A teenager! To celebrate this milestone we are having a Hunger Games party for her on the weekend.  My parents are playing with Zane today so that I can get a few things done.  I’m really excited about these party bags so wanted to jump online and share them with you…

Whenever I need to make things in bulk I am always so grateful for punches, they make the experience so much quicker and easier.  The colours I have used are Basic Black and More Mustard (great to use it as I don’t pull out that colour all that often).

Here is a close up of my arrow.  I’m very proud of my arrow as I had to come up with the idea on my own as I couldn’t find anything when I asked Google!  I have made it with a straw and some paper.

Did you notice the little square image on the arrow?  It is a Mockingjay, a symbol of good luck, these tokens are what the party guests will be trying to earn throughout the party.  The person with the most tokens will be our winner at the end of the day.  These boxes will be given to them at the start of the party so that they can put all their tokens in them throughout the day (stealing is the ulimate crime in Panem, therefore taking tokens from others will be prohibited).

The images were found here and here.
