A purple twist.

6 Feb

purple printsI needed a few cards and had a limited amount of time so the quickest way for me to do this is to make a stack of the same design and just change the sentiment to suit the occasion.

Stamp set: Butterfly Prints.  Sentiments from “Family Phrases” or “Pocket Silhouettes”.

Cardst0ck: Almost Amethyst, Lavender Lace, Very Vanilla.

Designer Series Paper: Non Stampin’ Up! from my craft stash.

Ribbon: from the ribbon promotion (now finished).

Accessories: Eyelet border punch, word window punch. Rhinestone brads, dimensionals.

It was interesting to make these cards as a couple of the intended recipients love purple, however I didn’t have any Stampin’ Up! patterned paper in that colour, thus I raided my other stash.  I was then having to try to match the plain colours and the ribbon…yikes!  It reminded me that it is so much easier to use our Stampin’ Up! DSP as everything coordinates so beautifully!

oh, what a shock, a card I have copied from someone else!

Yep, here is another case, this time from the super talented Sarah.  Her work is divine and I would love to have the time to make each and every card on her blog!

sarah butterflyAs soon as I saw this card I ignored all the other more pressing things that I should have been doing and sat down to make it.  Now that I look at the picture I realise that the sentiment is missing…I’ll just have to add that later!

  • Stamp Set: Butterfly Prints.
  • Cardstock: Pink Pirourette, Very Vanilla, Regal Rose.
  • Ink: Regal Rose, Close to Cocoa.
  • DSP: Candy Lane.
  • Accessories: Regal Rose Grosgrain Ribbon, Rhinestone Brads, Eyelet Border Punch.

Summer Butterflies

17 Jan

red butterfly printsHere is a card that I made for a recent ESAD-SU blog hop to celebrate the new Summer Mini.  It was a chance to participate in a hop from the blogs of many other Stampin’ Up! Demonstrators within a Yahoo group to which I am a member. It generated a heap of visits and comments to my blog, losing all those comments was the saddest thing about changing websites recently :(

Anyway, here is the card:

Stamp sets: Butterfly Prints, Tres Chic.
Cardstock: Real Red, Pink Pirouette, Whisper White, Vellum.
Ink: Real Red, Versamark, Pink Pirouette.
Accessories: Real Red Polka Dot 3/4″ Ribbon, Circle Fire Rhinestone Brads, White Embossing Powder, Clear Embossing Powder, Sponge Daubers. Butterfly punch (from the Summer Mini).
As you can see I have heat embossed the top Vellum layer of the butterflies.  Attaching the butterflies with the Rhinestone Brad allows the wings to sit up nicely and also eliminates the problem of hiding adhesive under Vellum (not often an easy task ).

I have used clear embossing powder over the sentiment that was stamped in Real Red, this makes it beautifully glossy.
