Make a Monster

The “Make a Monster” Stamp Set went onto my Wish List as soon as I saw our current Idea Book and Catalogue and I purchased it ages ago, however it has only recently been mounted but I’m happy to say it has now had a decent bit of stampin’ love.

If you check out Linda’s blog you will see some beautiful invites that she made for her son’s recent birthday, they got me totally inspired and I made some of my own…

If you pull up the insert you get something that looks like this…

Stamp Set: Make a Monster, Family Phrases

Cardstock and Ink colours: Whisper White, Concord Crush, Pear Pizzazz, Peach Parfait, Black Stazon.

I would have assumed that a stamp set like this would have required extensive use of the Stamp-a-majic but I didn’t even use it once!

Hope you like ’em.

Happy Birthday Zane!

My little baby boy turned 3 on Friday! We have been celebrating his Birthday by sharing in some of his favourite things (Ipswich Rail Museum and Wiggles World at Dreamworld).  I’m exhausted!!!

Here are some Wiggles Cakes I made for him…

And yes the kids did only eat the icing, all that food colouring is every mother’s nightmare!

Here is a close up of the cake toppers:

They were so quick and easy, I found some clip art here:

And then just went crazy with my toothpicks, punches and a glue stick (the Stampin’ Up! one, it is so much better than the ones at the shops).

Hope you like them!

Make a monster.

I wanted to make a card with “make a monster” and came across this one from Darlene, I really couldn’t think of anything much to change, I loved it the way it was.

As you can see I have used the “Make a Monster” Stamp set, the sentiment from “on your Birthday” and some of the lovely “Playdate” designer series paper.  I was on a roll and I have another 4 of these cards to make for some other special birthdays coming up.  I think this card is quite gender neutral and I intend to make the cards for the girls in just the same way.  The complimentary cardstock colours in this card is Tempting Turquoise, So Saffron and Old Olive.  I have used Watercolour paper (it is so worth it, the result you get is AMAZING), I stamped the images with versamark, added some black embossing powder and heat set it.  It gives you a great rigid outline in which to colour.  I have used a technique of going around the inside edge of the embossed image with the thin end of my Stampin’ Write Marker and then used the Aqua painter to bleed the colour out.  No doubt that does not make sense, maybe you should come along to a class and we can have a play with our aqua painters 🙂

Baby Owl.

I needed to make a birthday card for a little bubba about to turn one.  I remembered his Mum talking about how symbolic Owls were to you while she was pregnant with him and I knew that I wanted to feature this fact in his card.

I don’t think it looks like a typical card for a One Year Old and in a lot of ways that is perfect for this family.  The sentiment is from “On your Birthday”.  The owl is of course our cute little Owl Punch.  And it seems lately I am incapable of making a card without the Square Lattice Embossing Folder!  Good to see it getting used I guess.  My colours are Pumpkin Pie, Bashful Blue and Chocolate Chip, with just a little bit of Certainly Celery.  The number one has been cut out of the “Playdate” Designer Series Paper.

As long as it is pink….

My little niece Bianca is going to be 5 very soon, whenever anyone asks her what she would like for her birthday she says “I don’t mind what you get for me as long as it is pink”.

Unlike my usual style of making a card the night before the event I have her card ready a week ahead of schedule!!! Mostly because I was making it for Steph’s Sketch Challenge that closed today!

I hope it is “pink” enough for Bianca.  I have used the stamp sets “Crazy for Cupcakes” and the hostess stamp set “Birthday Bakery”.  They have been stamped onto Watercolour Paper with Versamark, sprinkled with black embossing powder and then heat set.  My cardstock colours are Very Vanilla, Pretty In Pink and Certainly Celery.

If you like this card (and would like to have a look at the other entries)  you can check Steph’s site here. Don’t forget to vote!

Cherished Journals.

A very important part of my month is the class I help out with at SIDS and Kids.  This month we were covering journals in which to record very precious memories.

Here is the one I did:

I kept it pretty simple and was happy with how it turned out.  The paper is from the Subtles Paper Stack and so the other journals were in So Saffron, Certainly Celery, Wild Wasabi and Baja Breeze.  I wished I took some photos as they all turned out beautifully and it was so nice to see all the different colours together.

The butterfly is the “Beautiful Wings” embosslit on Page 151 of the main catalogue.  The alphabet was cut from a Sizzix alphabet from my own stash.  The stampin’ in behind the Silver Hodgepodge is from “Elements of Style”, which is a stamp set I can’t wait to use more, I love it.
