2018 – the year of scrapbooking

I’m so delighted to be focusing on scrapbooking this year.  I will be continuing card classes mostly on a Monday each fortnight (with an occasional night session thrown in).

My class schedule can be found here.

Starting Thursday 15th February at 7pm we will be holding regular scrapbooking evenings.

This class is $10 (my downline come along for free).
You will receive two page protectors (full 12×12 or divided – your choice).
I can help you make a start on a layout, simple or complicated, you decide.

You can have the option of buying a layout pictured ($10 for all the paper to make one of the layouts pictured (please register your interest as I will get it organised for you). Alternatively you can order the paper pack from me (this one is “Myths and Magic RRP $21) and come to the class and I’ll make sure I supply you with any other products you need to complete these pages (really great value if you have more than one child, you will get two boys and two girls from the pack easily).

The idea is that you have a feature page of your child at a certain age and then a companion divided page full of photos of them from that age!

Registrations are essential, especially if you intend to buy the layout pack for $10.

Hope to hear from you soon!

A month of scrapbooking – day 30!!!!!

Well here we are at the end of my personal challenge to scrapbook each day for 30 days.

I’m so happy I was able to meet this goal for myself.  It has totally reinforced to me how much I adore this “hobby”, which is actually so much more than a fun paper craft activity to me!  I don’t think you can put a value on preserving your memories.  It shows you how very lucky you are as all of your blessings are right there in front of you.  It is a reminder of the beauty around to anyone who sees your creations.  The books are the most important keepsake in the years to come.

Moving forward I would now like to make sure I complete at least a page a week.  I would also like to get better progress of my basic “month per page” style layouts that I do digitally.

Speaking of digital scrapbooking, the way I do this is through the app “Project Life by Becky Higgins”.  It is so simple to use and it means that you get all those photos off your phone and into a more interactive meaningful format.  I will be sure to spend more time talking about this.

There is also the physical format of Project Life that I have used a lot for my daughters.  For my twins I made them each an album when they turned 13, it was a bit of a love album to nurture them through the teenage years.  For my eldest child I made an album for her 18th birthday of “18 things we love about you”.  Then there was space at the back for her friends and our family to write messages to her.

Today I have been organising an album and kit that will be placed out at a funeral.  I had seen this done by one of Becky Higgin’s followers and I have done it previously.  People can choose to write a message or a memory onto one of the cards.  They then all get put into the album along with photos and any other mementos and are there to comfort the family left behind.

Thanks for coming along for the past month.

If you want to get some more consistent scrapbooking done I’m interested in running scrap-nights to support you.  Let’s talk!

A month of scrapbooking – day 29

The second last day of my 30 day challenge to scrapbook every day (and either finish off a page or complete a new one).  I am so happy with what I have achieved and I have absolutely loved doing it.  I am so inspired to keep going now…more about that soon!

Today’s page was already something like this….

I did like it as it was, it was plain but that was ok.  It was missing a date and I though the red was a bit off.

Here is how I changed it (the photo is clearly different, I did update both layouts), the red colour was changed to Cherry Cobbler.  I added a date to the journalling and I added some extra accents and took the bracket off.

See you tomorrow for the last day of this challenge!

A month of scrapbooking – day 28

Welcome to day 28 of my scrapbooking challenge…“to complete an unfinished layout or create a new one from scratch every day for the next 30 days”.  Check out this first post here to get some more information on my children’s scrapbooks *day one*

Yesterday I spoke about trying to avoid recreating pages that were already completed simply because I really didn’t like them.  Today I have found myself doing it again!

This is how the page was in one of the albums….

It was ok but was missing the date and just looked incomplete.

This is how I have changed it (this is in another child’s album but the changes are the same).  I added another colour cardstock, a diecut title and a date on which the photo was taken.    I also moved the photo in slightly to overlap the other circles more.

Hope you like it! See you tomorrow!

A month of scrapbooking – day 27

Welcome to day 27 of my scrapbooking challenge…“to complete an unfinished layout or create a new one from scratch every day for the next 30 days”.  Check out this first post here to get some more information on my children’s scrapbooks *day one*

As I have been spending so much time looking through my albums I have found certain pages that I really dislike.  I have tried really hard to just concentrate on getting up to date with the album rather than recreating completed pages but I couldn’t resist refreshing this layout….

This is how they were….

They still needed dates and journalling but I knew they were all wrong.  The white background clashed with the vanilla in the decorative paper.  The number stood out too much.  The white flower wasn’t right.

I pulled the pages apart, I did tear a little of the decorative paper on one of them but I still had some scrap so that could be easily fixed.  I replaced the white with Very Vanilla.  I sponged the edges and added journalling and dates.  I redid the number in a smaller font.  I added some ribbon and twine.

So the essence of the page remains the same, but I’m much happier with it now.  I hope you agree!

See you tomorrow!

A month of scrapbooking -day 26

Well the rain came as I hoped and I did steal a little time….

This page is much nicer in real life!

It is mostly retired Stampin’ Up! product.  Another element of this challenge for me has been to use what I already have on hand, I have not bought anything new at all.

See you tomorrow!
