Too much fudge is never enough…

One of my daughter’s friends was just about to celebrate a milestone birthday.  Sally is allergic to cocoa butter and so can not have a lot of the chocolate that is available in the shops.  We have worked out the cooking chocolate that we can use in my fudge recipe that you can find here.  I worked out a gift that I could make for her with some special touches from my daughter.

We started with this split ring…

And then I made a series of numbered tags, one for each year, each tag had a punch on the back with sweet sentiments about their friendship.

As you can see they are a collection of different themes and ideas, current and retired products.

This cute little cat was made with the Fox Builder Punch.

Once all the tags were made I added them to 18 bags of fudge…

The idea is that once the fudge is all gone the tags can be threaded onto the split ring as a book of love.

Here’s the card that Tegan had to go along with the gift…

And yes…Sally loved it.

Easy effective watercolour backgrounds!

The Watercolour Pencils have certainly been the focus of my crafting of late.  This background is so easy to achieve.  The harder you press with your pencils the deeper the colour you will achieve with your background.  Once you have coloured onto your background (I used Watercolour paper) use your Aqua Painter to go over the top.  This will smooth out your colouring and spread the colour.  Once the background dried I added a quick layer of Wink of Stella (the clear one) over the top, it gave this card a beautiful shimmery finish.

I’ve stamped and heat set my sentiment with white embossing powder, I’ve then cut it with the  Stitched Shapes Framelits (which no photo will do justice, everyone absolutely loves them when they get to see them in real life).  I’ve cut the Dragon Fly framelits and added them around the sentiment.

Adaptability!

There are times where you may have the perfect card but the wrong sentiment (and no time to make a completely different card…)

Just add a background coordinating punch with your punched out sentiment and you’re good to go!

If you’d like to make this card check out these detailed instructions here.

This is the product list for these cards specifically.  You would assume that I’ve used a green ink however it is simply the blended effect from Daffodil Delight and Tempting Turquoise.

Sick of these dragonflies yet? I’m not :)

While researching different watercolour cards I came across this one by Chantal.  I still prefer Chantal’s version however here is the one we have been making at my recent classes.

You can ink up the stripe background stamp and then spritz water directly onto the stamp before stamping onto the paper (in this case it is Whisper White Cardstock)  The colours of the ink should separate a bit (that isn’t really obvious in the photo and each card will be different due to the differing amounts of water you get onto your stamp).  The splotches from Gorgeous Grunge have been spritz after they were stamped onto the paper.  Many of my guests added a Dragon Fly in Island Indigo instead of the white pictured, it looked lovely too.

As always if you have any questions please let me know.

Birthday Wishes

Today I’m sharing another card made with a 30th birthday in mind.  I think this card is special enough for any milestone birthday.  The gold dots are actually an foil on acetate overlay, if you use it showing the other side they look silver.  I’ve used adhesive underneath the Bermuda bay section and under the black circle and that seems to be enough to hold it down well (it can be tricky as often the adhesive will show through the clear acetate sheets.)  The embossing folder I’ve used on the Bermuda Bay is just from my supplies (not SU).
