Happy Birthday Dad.

Yesterday we celebrated my Dad’s 60th Birthday, so now I can finally show you a Scrapbooking gift that my Mum, Sister and I gave him.
About 6 weeks Mum, Kaz and I got together for coffee to discuss Dad’s birthday. 2 hours and 3 coffees later we had decided that it would be lovely to make Dad an album. Once we got home and the realisation of what I had committed to sunk in I could not sleep (however that could have been the 3 coffees???)
Anyway, knowing that I didn’t have heaps of time I decided to make it easier for myself by having a colour scheme (that matched a DSP paper pack) and a set page layout for every page. This way I was not going to be overwhelmed by choice and it would force me to keep it simple (Simple Pages, Completed Albums…sound familiar to anyone?
)
So I decided on Windsor Knot (it has a simple Masculine look), coordinating cardstock (Whisper White, Old Olive, Sage Shadow and So Saffron), plus I decided to do the album in a 8×8 inch size as I find it less intimidating than 12×12 inch. By the end of the album I was a little tired of the same colours and did branch out a little, particularly on the pages from the kids, however having a set colour scheme helped to tie the album all together.
The next day (after Mum had also had a restless night) she delivered a huge stack of photos covering all the topics we had decided we wanted to include. There were so many that I couldn’t resist including so I found an easy way of making a photo collage, so that I could print out one 4×6 inch photo but have 2 or 4 photos on the same print. Like this photo above. I used Picasa, which I accessed from my GMAIL account, it is free and did exactly what I wanted.
So, join me for a step by step peek into Dad’s album….see you tomorrow.
Happy Scrapbooking!
