Playing around with candles

Thursday, February 25th, 2010

Here is another version of the candles that I showed you last week.  I have shortened the height of the boxey bag to better suit the size of the candles.  I have changed the colours to a scheme of Rose Red, Close to Cocoa, Certainly Celery, Pretty in Pink and Bashful Blue.  Here it is:

Ribbon Rebellion Part 2

Wednesday, February 17th, 2010

ribbon multiHere is another card, very similiar to yesterday’s post, however this time I have used a selection of my ribbon off-cuts.  I always keep my scraps of ribbon, and it was great to use it up on this card.

Once I placed my ribbon I chose my cardstock colours to match.  I ended up using Pretty in Pink, Baja Breeze, Chocolate Chip and Whisper White cardstock.  I have added a button from the Button Bouquet (once agian threaded with a narrow strip of Whisper White cardstock.

Thanks for looking, happy stampin’.

I love getting inspiration from our Stampin’ Up! Catalogues, today I am sharing some cards I made from coping our Summer Mini.

ribbon redCardstock: Real Red, Whisper White, Certainly Celery, Bashful Blue.

Stamp Set: Hello Again.

Punch: Heart to Heart. Scallop Edge punch with extra little holes punched with the handheld 1/16 circle punch.

I recently ran a workshop in which we were using the Polka Dot Real Red Ribbon (from the Summer Mini).  I asked all my guests to keep their ribbon off-cuts as I had been wanting to make a card like this for a while.

The button is from Button Bouquet, and is “threaded” with a narrow strip of Whisper White cardstock, it is adhered with a mini glue dot.

Tomorrow I will show you another card I have made in the same style using different colours.

Happy Stampin’ (and ribbon off-cut collecting).

Cute Candles

Monday, February 15th, 2010

I am working on a workshop with some ladies who would like to decorate some candles.  As many of them have already done candle decorating before I thought we could also make some boxes to put them in.  Now I hope you are sitting down as I did the design for the box construction myself!!! Yes, I know it is a superduper easy design but the fact is I worked out the measurements myself (sadly that is a big thing for me).  I’d rather waste 2 hours blog surfing than get out a ruler!  Now to balance that previous statement I will let you know that the design for the decoration was cased from ChantellI saw her work during our ESAD Summer Mini blog hop and I’ve wanted to recreate it for ages!

hello again candleStamp set: Hello Again (Summer Mini).  Retro Mix Wheel (also from the Summer Mini).

Colours used: Bashful Blue, Certainly Celery, Pumpkin Pie, Pretty in Pink.

I used a piece of Hodgepodge hardware on the candle with some Bashful Blue Taffeta Ribbon.  There is Bashful Blue wide stitched grosgrain ribbon on my Boxey Bag.

As you can see there are some white brads on the Boxey Bag (they are helping to keep the ribbon secure).  These brads were from the Spring Mini, although that Mini has retired the brads are still available!

candle backHere is a piccie of the candle from the back.

The Boxey Bag is the right size to fit the  candle in, at these measurements you could get a taller in also.  I will probably go back to the drawing board and make another boxey bag that is a little shorter to suit this candle better.

Happy Stampin’
