Scrapbooking!

Sunday, May 23rd, 2010

Yes, don’t fall over….I have done some Scrapbooking!

I have a scrapbooking class coming up so needed to get organised in giving them a sample project.lily fox  As you can see it similar layout to the one on page 29 Autumn/Winter Mini Catalogue but I decided to change the colours a bit (actually that is not really true…I went to make this layout exactly the same but had a mini panic attack when I realised that I didn’t have any 12×12 Kraft so I had improvise).

Here is the girl version.

Stamp Sets: Fox and Friends, Defining Alphabet, Short & Sweet.

Cardstock: Mellow Moss, Very Vanilla, Pink Pirouette.

Inks: Mellow Moss, Pink Pirouette, Pumpkin Pie, So Saffron, Close to Cocoa, Chocolate Chip.

Accessories: Corner Rounder Punch (yes, we do have one, it was accidently left off the catalogue). Dimensionals, Stamp-a-majic, Silver brads and 1/16 hole punch.

The boy version:

zane foxEverything as above except add some Bashful Blue cardstock and ink, and also some Brocade Blue ink for the little whale.

You could do lots more journalling on that blank block, I was time poor so just added the little “love you” stamp.

I wanted to make a more neutral page that did not require photos so quickly whipped up this one:

neutral boxThose blank boxes could be filled up with any journalling that you wanted, such as Birth details.  They are also a place to put stamped sentiments or other words using the defining alphabet stamps such as “love” etc.

The coloured block is So Saffron.  The little fox is Pale Plum and all other colours as listed above.

This is a super easy page, the blocks I have used are 5 cm x 3 inches (sorry about the two different types of measurement!)

Album Conclusion

Friday, April 2nd, 2010

Here is the rest of my Dad’s album…

page pLily’s page.  Don’t you just love that photo!

I have used the Eyelet Border Punch with the 1/16 inch hole punch.  The butterflies were punched with the Butterfly Punch that just recently retired from the Summer Mini Catalogue.

page qPaige’s page (wow, that’s a mouthful!!!)

I love the flower fusion on this page.  In fact I love them so much I tend to not use them!  I really need to use more from my supplies and not horde so much so this is a good first step.

The little Elephant is from “Wild about you”.

page rBianca’s page.  You may not really be able to tell from the size of this photo but Bianca has a gorgeous look on her face as she is gazing at her Poppy.

Fellow demonstrators may recognise the general look of this layout from one of the examples in one of  our recent Impressions magazines.  I’m also loving the buttons on the bottom left that I had to force myself to use (they were even harder to let go of than the Flower Fusion were!)

page sZane’s page.  I loved the colour combination on this page.  The little bats and balls were from one of the “Family Favourites” sets and the little people are of course from “All in the Family”. The letters are stamped with Riding Hood Red and the “Big Deal Alphabet” stamp set.

page tThis is a page of fun photos, which mostly go to show that my father has never learned that my mother will always have a camera handy (even before the days of mobile photos with inbuilt cameras!)

page uThis is a page showcasing some recent events that have been noteworthy, building their own home and a vege garden that the Grandkids adore.

page vThis is the last page of the album (phew!)

Dad has retired now, just a couple of days before his 60th birthday.  We had a lovely dinner together to celebrate (as you can see in the photo).

I got such a thrill out of giving Dad this album.  He sat down and read every word as soon as he received it.  He loved having all these special photos together in the one album, and of course loved our words within each page.  Capturing the kids and their thoughts has also enhanced the album, and added some humour as well.

If you are ever considering a similar album as a gift I would definitely recommend it.

The Grandkids

Monday, March 22nd, 2010

These are by far my favourites pages.  They were fun to put together and great to include the kids in this project.

I did move away from my general colour scheme for these pages.  My eldest daughter wrote her own story but we had a set of questions for the others (age range 6 to 3 years of age).  He was hilarious to hear all their responses, Mum’s favourite is from Bianca…. Question: Why did Pop marry Nan?  Bianca’s Answer “Because he had to!”.

page nTegan’s page.  I have used “Hoppy for You” stamps as Tegan often goes toad hunting with Pop, and that is what her story is about.

page oCallum’s page.  A mutual love of the Vegetable Garden is shared by Callum and Pop.  The stamp set “Bugs and Kisses” is featured on this page.

I’ll be back with more soon.

page m Here is another page that holds a whole heap  of photos.  It is great to see the experiences that Mum and Dad have shared.  It was great to see Dad’s reaction to this page.  He loved seeing all these travel photos together.

page lNo family album would be complete without hearing the voices of the “other” men of the family!

Here was Pete and Mark’s chance to have their say!

Thanks to Linda for saving the day with the second Jumbo eyelet (I forgot to order some in time!!!!)

page kHere are our pages that reflect on Dad’s involvement in our weddings.

I have used Baroque Motifs and a Close to Cocoa cardstock background.  They don’t really show up all that well in this photo but the little white dots are Pearls from the Pretties Kit, they are attached with Mini Pop Dots.

More pages

Here are some more pages  from Dad’s album…

Mum had given me a PILE of photos, they were all so good so I had to think of ways to get them all in, but still keep the album compact.

page hHere are some pages that highlight some of Dad’s aquatic adventures.

page iFun with Mum :)

page jDaredevil stuff…

Many of these photos were taken during a “Joicey Surprise”.  Birthdays in my family can tend to be an occasion where you are put into a situation that you may not choose for yourself.  The Camel ride was for my sister’s birthday, Go Carts for mine and the Sky diving was for my husband’s birthday.  Many times other family members are also thrown into the surprise, as was the case with Sky Diving (much to Dad’s horror :) ).

These were easy pages to put together and heaps of happy memories are connected with them.

Two become four!

Sunday, March 7th, 2010

These pages of my Dad’s album showcase the arrival of my sister and I:

page d

Stamp Set: Bugs and Kisses.

Accessories: Dimensionals. Brads, Scallop Circle, 1 1/4 and 1 3/8 punches.  Photo Corner Punch.

Up to now the journalling has been from Mum. On this next page my own journalling comes in as I reflect on my childhood:

page e

Cardstock: So Saffron, Whisper White, Sage Shadow, Vellum.

Designer Series Paper: Windsor Knot.

Ink: So Saffron, Sage Shadow, Old Olive.
