Our projects from our Fundraiser

Monday, June 28th, 2010

I’m up bright and early this morning (not really sure why, I usually love a sleep in, maybe I’m just excited about the school holidays!)

I don’t have any photos from our actual event on Friday night yet, so I thought I would share what I do have and that is the photos of our projects.

I’ll start with mine….

red nose day becOur guests just did the one card of this design, to keep the costs down I got as much DSP from the one pack that I could, therefore half the cards were made with one pattern and the rest with the other, does that make sense?

On this card we have the Pun Fun and Think Happy Thoughts Stamp Sets.  Plenty of punches with Scallop Circle, 1 3/8 circle, 1 1/4 circle, Boho Blossoms and Scallop Border Punch being used.  I have used the Riding Hood Red DSP, Chocolate Chip, Whisper White and of course some more Riding Hood Red cardstock.

Linda and Louise encouraged me to stay with the red theme for our cards, and I’m so glad they did as it really worked well for our night.

This card is a case of one that I saw on Becky Robert’s site. Actually  ever finding Becky’s site is a little bit of a liability for me as I end up just spending too long blog surfing and dreaming – you would not believe how long I just took to find the card agred nose day louain and stop looking at all the other super duper stuff on her site!!! Yikes!

Then we have Lou’s card:

Lou used the fabulous Fifth Avenue Floral Stamp Set, one of our best sellers, and it is easy to see why.  The sentiment is from the set On Your Birthday.  Real Red, Rich Razzleberry and Whisper White are the colours used.

You can mask the flowers when stamping this card if you want them to overlay, the other way to do it is as is done here, with some cutting out around the flowers to sit them up on dimensionals.  Love it.

steph cardHere is Steph’s card.

The Stamp Sets Wanted, Sanded and Teeny Tiny Sentiments have been used. All the sponging really adds such a lovely touch to this card.  This card also uses a sheet from the Riding Hood Red DSP, along with Chocolate Chip and the controversial paper “Naturals Ivory” found on page 130 of the catalogue.  This paper caused a stir as Steph was waiting for the paper from her order to finish cutting the rest of her packs for the night, in the meantime I asked Linda and Louise if they had some for back up and none of us had really become familiar with this paper and certainly didn’t have any!  We are now all in love with it and no doubt its sales will go through the roof! :) Would not be the first time Steph has cost me money!

linda 3d red nose dayHere is Linda’s 3D project.  The template is based on Keesh’s card folder, our clever Linda just made hers a little wider (and therefore a little narrower to keep it still a A4 cardstock requirement) so that envelopes would fit also.  Circle Circus has been used, along with some Riding Hood Red Taffeta ribbon.  Pink Pirouette is used (Linda rarely makes a project without some pink!).

Cute!

Yikes, time is flying by.  I have heaps to share but a little flat out getting ready for Red Nose Day.  Just to show you I’m still alive I will post this quickie.

This was on my first website but I hadn’t added it here so….

punch clipsMaybe I am just trying to justify my magnificant punch collection or maybe I was just in a punch art mood but this is what I have been playing around with lately.  Tutorials can be found here

I love these little critters.  Can you believe that the lion’s mane is actually a from scallop circle?  I’ll show you how that is done in my next post.  You need a few punches, may of which are very popular ones and you may even have.  The eyes are paper too (when I first saw them online I thought they may have been those googly eyes you can buy).  I have done them with a regular style hole punch (for the white part) and the 1/16 inch hand held punch (for the little black dot).  I used tombow glue to put them together and attached them to the paper clip with some glue dots (there is a 1 3/8 circle on the back of the paperclip).

These are easy enough to make with your kids and would make excellent gifts for their friends.  Any questions just let me know.

I’ll be back with more soon!

Playing around with candles

Thursday, February 25th, 2010

Here is another version of the candles that I showed you last week.  I have shortened the height of the boxey bag to better suit the size of the candles.  I have changed the colours to a scheme of Rose Red, Close to Cocoa, Certainly Celery, Pretty in Pink and Bashful Blue.  Here it is:

Cute Candles

Monday, February 15th, 2010

I am working on a workshop with some ladies who would like to decorate some candles.  As many of them have already done candle decorating before I thought we could also make some boxes to put them in.  Now I hope you are sitting down as I did the design for the box construction myself!!! Yes, I know it is a superduper easy design but the fact is I worked out the measurements myself (sadly that is a big thing for me).  I’d rather waste 2 hours blog surfing than get out a ruler!  Now to balance that previous statement I will let you know that the design for the decoration was cased from ChantellI saw her work during our ESAD Summer Mini blog hop and I’ve wanted to recreate it for ages!

hello again candleStamp set: Hello Again (Summer Mini).  Retro Mix Wheel (also from the Summer Mini).

Colours used: Bashful Blue, Certainly Celery, Pumpkin Pie, Pretty in Pink.

I used a piece of Hodgepodge hardware on the candle with some Bashful Blue Taffeta Ribbon.  There is Bashful Blue wide stitched grosgrain ribbon on my Boxey Bag.

As you can see there are some white brads on the Boxey Bag (they are helping to keep the ribbon secure).  These brads were from the Spring Mini, although that Mini has retired the brads are still available!

candle backHere is a piccie of the candle from the back.

The Boxey Bag is the right size to fit the  candle in, at these measurements you could get a taller in also.  I will probably go back to the drawing board and make another boxey bag that is a little shorter to suit this candle better.

soapAs I mentioned in my previous post, Pete doesn’t “believe” in Valentine’s Day.  Despite this I decided to put together a small gift for him.  I made the boxeybag and then hit a major speed bump….Pete is currently participating in a weight loss challenge (and it has a cash prize for the winner so he is taking it seriously!)  I would usually fill a bag like this with choccies but couldn’t do that this time.  Plus I haven’t been to shops lately so hadn’t thought to get some nice shower gel or the like.  So a major scavenger hunt started…

In desperation I opened my laundry cupboard in the hope that I had some shower gel in there.  I found a cake of soap and had the bright idea of stamping onto it.  I thought it was the same technique as candle stamping (no it is NOT!!!)  As it was either a cake of soap or a tube of toothpaste I decided to wrap the soap in cardstock and stamp onto that (as you can see to your left).  The stamp is from Ocean Commotion.

Not content to leave it at a cake of soap I set about making him a notepad:

notepad peteI can’t see Pete whipping this out in the middle of a meeting, but anyway I made it all the same!

I have used Pacific Point and Chocolate Chip cardstock, and some DSP from Good Morning Sunshine.  The stamp is from the Wild West Alphabet stamp set (BTW how much does that remind you of the font that P!NK used throughout the recent tour!!!)

So I guess Pete will be totally thrilled with his awesome Valentine’s Day gifts….NOT!  Oh I nearly forgot to show you the Boxey Bag….

It is better to give…

Friday, January 15th, 2010

With all the rush leading up to Christmas I didn’t take a lot of time to photograph the gifts that I was making others.  However I have seen that the gift recipents have been doing all the hard work for me, so I’ll just nick the photos and pop them up here….

This was for Lou:

And for Steph:

becThe watering can is on Splitcoast Stampers, it is so easy!  I think it would be great as a House Warming Gift with some seeds inside.

The bookmarks are motified from some that I saw on the net.  They are quite quick to make, the hardest part can be getting the ribbon into the beads from the Pretties Kit.  I used some of the Filigree brads for Lou’s as the thicker satin ribbon was not going to be able to be thread through the beads.

The pens are decorated with Microbeads that are adhered with Sticky Strip that has been wound around the pen.  After I did them I realised that our Chunky Sprinkles would have be perfect and added some to Lou’s pen (the chunky sprinkles are the green bits on the pen)

Here is a close up of the ear-rings:

bec1These ear-rings feature beads from the Pretties kit as do the scissor charms….

Even more gifts!

Monday, January 11th, 2010

Can you believe I have even more gifts to share???

linda bagLinda gave me this gorgeous bag, check out that wide ribbon (it is from our current Summer Mini).  The scallop tag has been stamped wtih an image from “Snow Swirled” and has a Rhinestone brad from the Fire collection.  I didn’t take a photo of the back but she has stamped “to/from” from the “Punch Pals” stamp set.  PLUS Linda didn’t write on it so that I could regift the bag and tag, however I doubt that I will want to part with them.

As if that was not enough check out what was inside….

IMG_0268This beautifully decorated DVD tin.  As you can see Linda has used ”Candy Lane” Designer Series Paper, the scallop edge punch, the Razzle Dazzle stamp set (from the current Summer Mini) which she has stamped using a Rock and Roll technique.

 Inside was…

Secret Santa

Saturday, January 9th, 2010

I am part of a great team of Stampin’ Up! Demonstrators and before Christmas our fearless leader Steph hosted a Christmas Party for us.  We participated in a Secret Santa swap, and this is what I was lucky to recieve…

IMG_0269The creator of these gorgeous items is Lyanna George

IMG_0270Here it is opened…

As you can see the box is full of choccies and the wallet is full of beautiful Christmas tags.  I loved the tags so much that I couldn’t bring myself to use them.
